The Noiroma blackcurrant is a variety that stands out for its robustness, its adaptability to different climates, and its relative resistance to diseases, particularly powdery mildew. This variety is self-fertile, and does not require the presence of another variety to ensure good pollination and fruiting. It is vigorous and produces medium to large clusters, with fruits slightly larger than those of traditional varieties. The Noiroma berries, ready to be harvested generally at the end of July, are of an intense black color and are characterized by a juicy flesh, rich in aromas and flavors. They have a good balance between acidity and sweetness, which makes them particularly appreciated for fresh consumption, as well as for transformation into jams, juices and liqueurs. Noiroma is also well adapted to a wide range of soils, as long as they are well drained, and it thrives in sunny exposure, although it will also tolerate partial shade. Noiroma blackcurrant is also notable for its hardiness. Once established, it is not very demanding in terms of water, especially if mulch is applied at the base, and it can withstand harsh winters. Its fruits, rich in vitamin C, antioxidants and pectin, are not only excellent for health, but also versatile in cooking.
