Edible honeysuckle 'Martin' is a climbing plant known for its tasty berries and attractive flowers. This variety is distinguished by its sturdy stems that can reach several meters in height, perfect for covering trellises and walls. The leaves are oval and bright green, while the flowers, small and tubular, appear in clusters in spring, with hues ranging from white to cream.
The 'Martin' variety is self-sterile. This means that it needs another variety of edible honeysuckle to ensure effective cross-pollination and good fruit production. To obtain a bountiful harvest of berries, it is recommended to plant at least two different varieties of edible honeysuckle close to each other.
What makes the 'Martin' honeysuckle particularly interesting are its berries. They ripen in summer and change color to a bright red or sometimes dark blue. These berries have a rather sweet and slightly tart taste, ideal for making jams, juices or even desserts.
The plant is also valued for its ability to withstand cold temperatures, making it suitable for various climates.
