Amaranthus cruentus
This variety is cultivated in particular for its abundant production (400 to 500 grams/plant) of golden brown seeds for consumption. These seeds are very rich in protein and are suitable for gluten-free diets. This variety has very large inflorescences that can reach 2.5 m in height and produces large green leaves striped with brown. It is suitable for the production of cut flowers. Sowing: very light in April/May, in rows spaced 40 cm apart, in sunny exposure, in loose, deep, humus-rich and fresh soil, thin to 30 cm. Regular watering. Mulching is recommended in case of drought. Very resistant to difficult climatic conditions and easy to grow, young leaves to be consumed early in the season.
