Orach is a beautiful old plant about 2 m tall, cultivated since the Middle Ages for its leaves, which are eaten like spinach. Also known as painted lady for its beauty in the garden, its haste leaves are carried by long, upright, grooved green stems. Harvest quickly in about 4 months after sowing.
The young leaves are eaten raw in salads, cooked, they are prepared like spinach.

In some species, a plant can naturally produce two or three completely different kinds of seeds, such as orach. In this bag, you will find a mixture of black and blond seeds with different hulls; their germination time may vary.

Successful Sowing of Green Orach

We recommend placing the seed packet in the fridge for 1 week/15 days to break the seed dormancy.
Sow thinly in place in pockets from March to August, in a sunny position, in fresh soil, kept moist but not excessively. Do not cover the seeds (about 1 mm). Thin out to 40 to 50 cm in all directions.
To harvest young shoots, sow from August to September and spread the seedlings out more densely. Space them only 5 cm apart in all directions.
Germination temperature: 15 to 30°C.
Rise: 10 to 20 days.
Stagger sowing every 3 weeks to extend the harvest.
