Culture advice:
Carrots adapt to all climates, but they prefer a sunny location. They should be sown in fresh, deep, sandy soil. It is important not to add fresh organic matter before sowing, but a conventional fertilization with vegetable fertilizer is recommended.
Good to know:
Carrot seeds are small and light, making sowing them a bit tricky. To avoid over-sowing, it's recommended to sow thinly. To make this easier, you can mix the seeds with sand or coffee grounds. The latter, in addition to limiting the amount sown, helps repel carrot flies.
In the kitchen:
Carrots can be enjoyed raw, as sticks in a garlic sauce, grated, or even as tagliatelle. Cooked, they are perfect in recipes like Vichy carrots or as a garnish in stews like blanquette.
In the event of a stock shortage, La Ferme de Sainte Marthe may consider replacing one of the references cited in this assortment with an equivalent variety relevant to the theme.
