Mentha pulegium
Pennyroyal is a perennial plant about 20 cm tall, with evergreen aromatic foliage, producing compact spikes of lilac- colored flowers. Its leaves are oval and sparsely toothed. With its powerful mint aroma , it is used medicinally to relieve headaches or as an insect repellent . It also has abortive properties and should not be consumed by pregnant women.
Pennyroyal mint is eaten as a condiment in salads or tabbouleh .
How to successfully sow pennyroyal mint
Sow from March to April in a nursery, with transplanting in May, or directly in place from May.
Rich , fresh , deep and moist soil.
Regular watering . Invasive plant .
