ROCAMBOLE ONION NT 3 bulbils
Allium cepa proliferum
The rocambole onion, also called catawissa, is a perennial variety whose stems end in 2 to 3 tiers of bulbils grouped by 4 to 6. The bulbs ensuring the plant's longevity are small, ovoid and have a stronger flavor than the classic onion. The coppery red bulbils are candied and the bulbs used like a classic onion. The leaves are eaten in soup or salad. Planting: October-November or mid-February end of March, on mounds to avoid stagnant moisture, rows 40 cm apart, every 25 cm. Harvest: after July-September.
