Sambucus nigra 'Thundercloud' is an elegant shrub with a branched shape and finely cut foliage that is tinged with a deep purple-red, sometimes almost black.
In late spring, it is adorned with magnificent white or pink umbels, offering a striking contrast with this dark color. Shortly after, it produces clusters of black berries, edible and delicious.
This elderberry, hardy and deciduous, prefers a sunny exposure to reveal all the richness of its colors. For planting, choose a sunny location and well-drained soil.
In the kitchen, 'Thundercloud' berries are ideal for making jams, syrups or sauces.
